Concrete Industries Auburn Ready Mixed Plant has been working on a project at the Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska to increase the capacity of the site’s dry fuel storage. Concrete Industries Nebraska City has supplied concrete for 22 new Horizontal Storage Modules (HSM’s). HSM’s are robust concrete structures designed to house and protect nuclear fuel containers. At the completion of the project, the Cooper Station will bring the current dry fuel storage pad to its maximum capacity of 52 HSM’s and 3,172 fuel assemblies.
TN Americas LLC is the contractor for the project that has included 2,100 cubic yards of concrete supplied by Concrete Industries Nebraska City since April 11. The final pour was completed on July 26. Doug Sudduth, TN Americas LLC, noted, “Concrete Industries Nebraska City has been a great company to work with throughout this entire process.”
